Walnut Shipment Report Update:

Inshell shipments were 36.6 million pounds for the month of December, a decrease of 11.1 million pounds (-23%) compared to December of 2015.
Season to date inshell shipments (September 1st – December 31st, 2016) are 319.5 million pounds through December, an increase of 89.6 million pounds (+39%) compared to the same period last season.
Shelled shipments were 42.9 million pounds for the month of December, an increase of 5.1 million pounds (+14%) over prior year.
Season to date shelled shipments (September 1st – December 31st, 2016) are 174 million pounds through December, an increase of 33 million pounds (+23%) compared to the same period last season.

To summarize the shipment numbers:

The industry has produced 678,825 tons of walnuts for the 2016/2017 crop year.
Processors have shipped 357,476 tons of walnuts from 9/1/16 to 12/31/16.
That represents 52.6 of the 2016/2017 crop.
Year over year shipments are up 79,917 tons or up 29% from September through December. Remember – Daylight Savings Time is March 12th, 2017!
