Turlock Walnut Company Accomplishes 300% Facility Growth
Located near downtown Turlock, Turlock Walnut Company (TWC) has expanded their facility by 300% in a new 60,000 square-foot state-of-the-art facility. Founded in 2011 by local ag leaders committed to utilizing unparalleled technology, the new facility will continue to incorporate new and efficient technologies to maintain their history of quality, transparency and traceability while emphasizing employee and food safety. TWC’s specialty is in-shell processing and often is an attractive processor for modern walnut growers looking for a flexible and nimble partner. Known for top returns and timely payments, TWC works with growers throughout the greater Central Valley.
Upstream technologies include electronic optical color sorters. Traceability is paramount with barcode technology that can trace each bin back to the huller as well as the grower and field it came from. Once packed, the robotic palletizer is designed to create perfectly consistent stacks, making loading easier and resulting in less breakage.
TWC is also CCOF Certified Organic. Organic farmers have come to rely on TWC with services that include on-site receiving, freezer fumigation kill-step, shelling, packing, sales and marketing.
In addition, sister company Turlock Freezer Storage is located next door and is home to 588,000 cubic feet of freezer space, which is conveniently right next door to the walnut processer.
